Trying to stop the sky falling in Pisa. Part 1

No walking on the grass…

IMG_8611   IMG_8612Managing to part the red sea of excited tourists we made our way through the old winding streets of Pisa, our first glance of the infamous tower just poking its lopsided head over the top of an old stone wall, almost smiling at us as it waited for the onslaught of the day’s tourists.

The sky above was the clearest blue, not a cloud to be seen. The sun nibbled lightly at our skin, not yet reaching its full midday bite.

Everywhere you looked tourists were posing trying to hold up that tower save it from falling, I’m sure the end resulting photo would look great but from this angle it looked like hoards of crazed little chickens trying to stop the sky from falling…

The optional keep off the grass signs were everywhere, guards running around trying to stop the selfie enthused tourists who were avidly creating a Mexican wave running back and forth onto the grass in the wake of the exhausted guards.

So of course my step children and I had to also try our luck at the famed saving the tower from falling over photo, which actually came out really well as long as you don’t look at all the other tourists in the background pulling those strange poses…
